Whether you’re a hopeless romantic or prefer to celebrate self-love, Valentine’s Day means something different to everyone. But how are people in the UK really spending the most romantic day of the year?

We turned to our community to find out exactly what they’re hoping for this Valentine’s Day

The UK’s Ideal Valentine’s Day

Forget the pressure of grand romantic gesturesour survey revealed that the UK’s ideal Valentine’s celebration is all about indulgence, relaxation, and connection.

The top three dream ways people want to spend Valentine’s Day are:

  • Romantic Dinner – Cooking a delicious meal at home or dining out was the clear winner.
  • Staycation – A romantic weekend getaway was a close second.
  • Pamper Yourself – Taking time out for a luxurious self-care ritual, including skincare and bubble baths.

Generational Differences

Whilst romance dominated the overall results, our data showed some interesting age-based trends:

  • Gen Z (27 or under) are redefining romance with self-care at the top of their list. Pampering sessions, movie nights, and delicious meals are their idea of a perfect Valentine’s celebration.
  • Millennials (28-43) and Gen X (44-59) are all about romantic dinners, relaxing staycations, and an indulgent bubble bath with their favourite skincare products.
  • Boomers (60 and over) are still romantics at heart, favouring a delicious meal, a weekend getaway, and an activity-filled date.
